What is RegenPRP?

RegenPRP is a standardised platelet concentrate prepared from your own blood. Besides their role in clotting, platelets are key to tissue repair: they release growth factors (such as FGF, PDGF, TGF-β, EGF, VEGF and IGF) involved in cell migration, differentiation and proliferation, and they stimulate the cells that build new tissue and blood vessels. The plasma also carries nutrients, growth factors and the coagulation proteins that form the fibrin scaffold supporting tissue repair. In Cellular Matrix, this standardised RegenPRP is what is combined with the hyaluronic acid.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is an important natural component of the joint fluid (synovial fluid) and of cartilage. In the knee, it is responsible for the visco-elasticity of the synovial fluid. Its most important roles in the joint are lubrication, shock absorption, and enabling fast, low-friction movement. With age, the body’s own production of hyaluronic acid decreases; this changes the composition of the synovial fluid and reduces its lubricating and elastic properties — which is part of why an osteoarthritic joint becomes painful and stiff.
